About
The federal bird banding project came from the vision of Jack miner or "Wild Goose Jack," was a Canadian conservationist called by some the "father" of North American conservationism. Miner was one of the first conservationists to determine the migratory paths of birds. In August 1909, he constructed a successful duck trap. His subject was banding with his own hand-stamped aluminum band.[1] Along with address information, his bird tags quoted scripture: "Keep yourselves in the love of God—Jude 1-21" and "With God all things are possible—Mark 10-27". It was because of this that became the Federal Banding Program. It has provided us with a wealth of information that will ensures more birds to fuel our passion. This passion is what started MIGR8 bands in the spring of 2019. The leg band has always been the biggest prize of waterfowlers. The way they sound when you pull a lanyard out of tote bag. Each one memorializing an event from hunts before. Yet in the same way the bands on our fingers memorialize a commitment made to another; they are symbolic of the forever. Like Canada Geese that pair for life, the MIGR8 Rings allow people to hold multiple passions of their life close at all times and a reminder of the passion that got them there.
